Pathways to Deep Decarbonization in Colorado’s Electric Sector by 2040

CEO worked with Ascend Analytics to assess the lowest cost pathways to achieve 100% zero-emission electricity generation by 2040. The analysis found that generating electricity through wind, solar, battery storage, geothermal, and clean hydrogen will be the most cost effective approach to reach our goal.

2023 Electric Vehicle Plan

The 2023 Electric Vehicle (EV) Plan continues to accelerate the adoption of all types of electric vehicles in Colorado. Since 2018, the focus of our state’s EV Plan has expanded beyond light-duty passenger EVs to include medium- and heavy-duty zero-emission vehicles, eBikes, and other shared electric transportation options.

EV Equity

As the state supports the transition to electric vehicles, Colorado Energy Office (CEO) is working to ensure electric vehicles (EVs) and EV charging stations are equally available to all Coloradans. CEO’s Equity Study is an important resource to help achieve this goal. The study identifies barriers to EV access and presents opportunities for an equity-centered approach to transportation electrification.

The study measures and maps:

  • Current EV registration
  • EV Accessibility
  • Vehicle emission impacts in Colorado communities

It also proposes criteria to evaluate and prioritize EV programming and outreach.
EV Equity Study and Appendices

As part of the EV Equity Study, CEO developed the following tools to help ensure EVs are made available, accessible, and affordable for all:

EV Equity Dashboard - shows EV registration trends on a year-over-year basis and the locations of investments made under three transportation electrification programs.
See EV Equity Dashboard

EV Prioritization Tool - includes all of the data in the Dashboard and allows that data to be used to prioritize spending for specific programs.
