Colorado Energy Office Statement of Nondiscrimination
The Colorado Energy Office (CEO), and subrecipients receiving funds from CEO, do not discriminate against any individual on the basis of protected statuses in employment, admission or access to services or benefits under any of its programs. The protected statuses are referenced by the laws listed below:
- Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (“Title VI”) is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin. This law applies to entities receiving federal financial assistance.
- Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (“Section 504”) is a federal law that protects qualified individuals with disabilities from discrimination. This law applies to entities receiving federal financial assistance.
- Age Discrimination Act of 1975 is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of age. This law applies to entities receiving federal financial assistance.
- Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal law that prohibits sex discrimination (including pregnancy, sexual orientation, and gender identity) in any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
- Section 13 of the Federal Water Pollution Control Act Amendments of 1972 prohibits sex discrimination by any program or activity receiving federal financial assistance under this Act, the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, or the Environmental Financing Act.
- Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, as amended (“ADA”) is a federal law that protect qualified individuals with disabilities from discrimination. This law applies to all state and local government agencies.
- Title 24 of Article 34 Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS), Parts 4, 6, and 8 are state laws that prohibit discrimination for employees, places of public accommodation, and persons with disabilities.
In accordance with the laws linked above, CEO and its subrecipients describe discrimination as “excluding individuals from participation or denying an individual the benefits of any program or activity due to the individual’s race, color, national origin, sex, age, or disability.” CEO, and its subrecipients, will take reasonable steps to ensure barriers to accessing programs based on a protected class are limited, that there is a method to report barriers, and that CEO and its subrecipients provide timely remedies to reported barriers.
