The Colorado Energy Office (CEO) and ICLEI USA are excited to announce a funding opportunity for Colorado cities, counties, towns, and state-recognized tribes through the federal Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) program. Funding is available to help eligible applicants increase staff capacity and foster regional collaboration to advance local clean energy and sustainability programs.

Awardees will benefit from ICLEI’s technical assistance and access to networking opportunities with other grant recipients.

Eligibility
Local and Tribal governments, including local and Tribal government partnerships, were eligible to apply for funding to cover staff salaries and technical support costs. Applicants could request up to $240,000 over 3 years for staff capacity and up to $1 million total for regional collaboration work. There is no match requirement. Program implementation, project costs, and staff costs not specified in the grant application are not eligible for this funding.

EECBG Program Blueprints from the Department of Energy are model projects and programs designed to help local and tribal governments achieve high impact results with limited grant dollars. Blueprints offer ideas in energy efficiency, renewable energy, transportation electrification, clean energy finance, and workforce development. Each blueprint describes the benefits of various project types and highlights resources to help execute the project. The Department of Energy offers ongoing webinars and cohorts for local governments to amplify the impact and reach of EECBG Program projects.
