EV Home Charge supports the adoption of electric vehicles by helping fund electric panel and wiring upgrades for electric vehicle (EV) charging at single-family homes, duplexes, and townhomes. Access to at-home charging is a barrier to EV adoption in Colorado, especially in older homes that may have insufficient panel space or require extensive home wiring to support EV charging. This program addresses this barrier by helping reduce the cost of such upgrades. Colorado electric co-ops and municipal utilities are eligible to apply for EV Home Charge funding to offer rebates to their customers for both panel upgrades and home wiring to support EV charging.

Eligible Applicants
EV Home Charge grants are available for Colorado electric co-ops and municipal utilities. Investor-owned utilities are not eligible to apply for funding.
Eligible Projects
Funding is available for Colorado electric co-ops and municipal utilities to offer rebates to eligible customers to support wiring and/or electric panel upgrades for residential Level 2 electric vehicle chargers. Awarded utilities may offer enhanced incentives for income-qualified customers. More information about maximum rebate amounts and enhanced incentives is available in application materials linked under How to Apply.
Only wiring/electric panel upgrades for Level 2 chargers at single-family homes, duplexes, townhomes, and other small multifamily residences with individual private garages are eligible for rebates funded by the EV Home Charge program.
The Colorado Energy Office will prioritize funding for electric co-ops and municipal utilities that do not already offer panel and wiring incentives to customers. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to:
- Creating new home wiring and panel upgrade rebate programs
- Expanding an existing rebate program
- Adding dedicated income-qualified incentives for EV home wiring and panel upgrades
Projects looking for funding to support publicly accessible charging ports at commercial or multifamily housing properties are not eligible for EV Home Charge, but may apply for grant funding through Charge Ahead Colorado.
